TSAT.

This is coolbert:

TOP SECRET intelligence briefing. NO, not actually so, but let us pretend it is.

From the Chicago Tribune today:

Business

Boeing facing critical fight for satellite contract

“Boeing has its back to the wall . . . If it doesn’t win the contract, it will have real difficulty sustaining the workforce.”

“Boeing is vying to build a new generation of military communication satellites known as TSAT, for transformation satellites, that could have as big an effect on communications as global positioning system satellites had on navigation.”

“A decade ago, it [Boeing] was the world’s largest satellite maker, with nearly 10, 000 employees, but the workforce . . . has dwindled to about half that number.”

Boeing is NOT merely a manufacturer of aircraft. A multi-dimensional aerospace company, satellites, aircraft, missiles, etc.

And the TSAT:

“After the first of the five satellites is launched in 2018, TSAT would enable soldiers on a battlefield to view, for the first time, video images of the enemy taken and transmitted by an unmanned spy plane . . . The same video would be viewable by commanders nearby or by strategists at the Pentagon.”

"The Transformational Satellite Communications System (TSAT) program is . . . a secure, high-capacity global communications network serving the DOD, NASA and the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC). It is an enabler of net-centric warfare that will facilitate defense and intelligence professionals in making rapid decisions based on integrated, comprehensive information."

[NOT a spy plane! When run by the military as part of military mission, a reconnaissance aircraft. Pedantic quibbling on my part!?]

“TSAT [is] a high-speed Internet [an Internet connection, analogous to an ISP] in the sky . . . It would have 100 times the bandwidth of Milstar.”

Allow commanders to view the battlefield remotely, and with a single glance [or a series of glances], see the action as it transpires. Allowing the commander to follow a combat action as would have a Napoleon, Lee, or a Wellington on the black-powder battlefield of another era!!

TSAT is intended to be used for the C4ISTAR mission! Unmanned aerial vehicles, requiring relay, up link and down link! Remotely piloted vehicles and autonomous combat aerial vehicles THAT ARE THE FUTURE OF WAR IN THE SKY!!
